Quick Guides & Tips

How to Jump Start a Car
  1. Park both cars close but not touching. Turn off both engines.
  2. Connect RED (+) cable to the dead battery's positive terminal.
  3. Connect other RED (+) end to the working battery's positive terminal.
  4. Connect BLACK (-) cable to the working battery's negative terminal.
  5. Connect other BLACK (-) end to an unpainted metal surface on the dead car's engine block (ground).
  6. Start the working car and let it run for a few minutes.
  7. Try starting the dead car. If it starts, let it run for at least 15 minutes to recharge.
  8. Disconnect cables in reverse order.
Checking Tire Pressure
  1. Find the recommended PSI on the sticker inside the driver's door jamb (not the tire sidewall).
  2. Check tires when they are "cold" (haven't been driven for at least 3 hours).
  3. Remove the valve cap and press the gauge onto the valve stem.
  4. Compare the reading to the recommended PSI. Add air if too low; release air if too high.
  5. Replace the valve cap securely. Don't forget the spare!
Essential Fluids Checklist

Check these fluids regularly to keep your engine running smoothly:

  • Engine Oil: Check monthly. Ensure level is between min/max marks on dipstick.
  • Coolant/Antifreeze: Check monthly. Never open radiator cap when hot!
  • Brake Fluid: Check annually. Low fluid might indicate worn pads.
  • Power Steering Fluid: Check annually.
  • Windshield Washer Fluid: Refill as needed.
